EdAider
Student Learning Dashboard
Teachers need more than just numbers, they need clear, actionable insights to support every student and manage multiple courses with ease. EdAider dashboard was designed to solve this challenge. I led the entire design process from initial research to a fully functional high-fidelity prototype, shaping a dashboard that transforms complex data into meaningful, easy-to-use tools. This case study explores how thoughtful design can empower educators through better data.

Context
& Challenges.
A problem was discovered...
Educators often lack a comprehensive and intuitive tool to track student performance across multiple dimensions—grades, attendance, motivation, and behavior. Existing systems are fragmented or too data-heavy, making it difficult for teachers to gain a clear overview and respond effectively.
However, the challenge is...
How can we use AI technology to present complex learning data in a way that teachers can quickly understand, act on, and use to support students—while also keeping communication open with parents?
How Might We
How might we make student performance data easy for teachers to understand, act on, and share?
Research.
I did research on educational dashboards to explore how visual data can support both teaching and learning. Most dashboards focus on students, but some, like Edsight and Dell’s Education Data Management system, also help teachers track performance through charts showing grades, attendance, and risk indicators. These tools reveal patterns over time and support data-driven decisions to improve learning outcomes.
Sketching.
To explore different solutions, I used paper-based sketching during the early design phase. It helped quickly test ideas and make changes. I shared the sketches with stakeholders and a UX designer to gather feedback. By improving the sketches through several rounds, I was able to shape the overall concept and structure
Testing &
Thematic Analysis.
I conducted an expert evaluation to assess the prototype’s clarity and effectiveness, using heuristic guidelines and semi-structured interviews. UX and visualization experts were selected for their strong understanding of visual communication. Using the think-aloud method, participants shared their insights while exploring the dashboard. All feedback was analyzed using thematic analysis to guide future improvements.
Hi-Fi Prototype.
After several iterations, the final prototype includes six main views: Dashboard, Course Info, Student Profile, Analysis, Report, and Help. It offers a potential solution to support educators with advanced learning analytics and helps promote a more personalized learning experience for students.
Stay One Step Ahead – All Insights at a Glance
The dashboard offers a real-time view of your teaching progress, student engagement, and schedule. Smart visuals and alerts keep you informed, so you can focus on what matters most.
Zoom In on Every Course – See What Really Matters
The Course Introduction page gives a focused view of one course, including teaching performance, attendance, student progress, and key alerts. With smart visuals and clear summaries, educators can instantly understand class dynamics and spot who needs attention.
Know Every Student – Beyond Just Grades
The Student Information page gives a full picture of each learner, from grades and behavior to attendance, motivation, and wellbeing. With clear, multi-angle visualizations, educators can quickly spot trends, risks, and opportunities to support student growth.
Turn Data into Insight – Your Custom Analysis Hub
The Analysis page lets educators explore student data with custom settings and powerful visualizations. By selecting variables and switching chart types, teachers can spot trends, track performance stability, and even generate predictions—ready to export for deeper use.
